NEW PATIENT IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

IN attempt to prevent identity theft, the Federal Trade Commission and other governmental agencies are now requiring physician offices and hospitals to verify patient's identity. Effective November 1, 2009, all patients will need to provide photo identification when they come to the office. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause you. Broome OB/GYN is proud to announce that as of August 1, 2008, Dr. James D. Kondrup  & Lisa Mullins, FNP-C have joined our practice.

Dr. Kondrup brings over twenty years of comprehensive women’s healthcare to our practice.  Dr. Kondrup has extensive training in laparoscopic surgery and laser surgery.  He has introduced many new procedures in the Southern Tier Region since 1988. 

Dr. Kondrup has been affiliated with Dr. Robert J. Kiltz, MD and CNY Fertility Center, Central New York's first successful IVF center for over 10 years.  Through his affiliation Dr. Kondrup and team work to ensure the latest, most technologically advanced fertility care is available locally.  By providing this care here, patients are able to save a considerable amount of time and money by not having to travel outside the Binghamton area. 

Dr. Kondrup travels nationally and internationally to train surgeons on advanced laparoscopic gynecological techniques. He has extensive experience with all fertility treatment options.
He and his family reside in Binghamton.

Lisa brings over eleven years as a staff nurse with experience on various units and in the operating room. Her past experience in internal medicine and hospital work has, without a doubt, placed Lisa in a unique position of providing comprehensive women's health care.

Since 1998 Lisa has worked with Dr. Kondrup as a Nurse Practioner and has significant experience in comprehensive women’s health, adolescent care, and advanced fertility.  This experience not only allows her to provide exemplary care, but has given her the ability to openly discuss patients' fears and concerns. Lisa's kind and caring nature place patients at ease.

Cervical Cancer Vaccine... We are excited to offer the Gardasil vaccine in our office.  The first vaccine of its kind, it prevents infection with four types of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).  This revolutionary vaccine prevents the types of HPV that cause 70% of cervical cancers and  90% of genital warts.  Yes, a vaccine that prevents cancer!!  The vaccine is given in a series - the first vaccine can be given anytime, a second is given two months later, followed by a third six months after the first.  Insurance coverage varies so check with your company.  For more information see the Gardasil web site at: click here.  
Early Genetic Screening... The latest in screening for Down Syndrome in early pregnancy is available at Broome OB/GYN.  It is now possible to screen for Down Syndrome as early as 10-13 weeks of pregnancy, well before the Quad screen (15-20 weeks) or amniocentesis (15 weeks and beyond) is available.  The screening involves a blood test and an ultrasound.  Ask your doctor or midwife at your first pregnancy visit if you are interested. Osteoporosis Screening... Our in-office Bone Density Scanner allows us to offer a fast, painless, and accurate screening for osteoporosis.  Your doctor, nurse practitioner, or midwife can tell you whether you need this test and will discuss the results with you if any follow-up is required based on the result.  Our Bone Desiometry Specialist, Deana, can perform the test, discuss how you can optimize your lifestyle for bone health, and help you decipher how your history may contribute to your risk for osteoporosis.  It's important that you not take any multivitamin, calcium supplement, or bone-health medication on the day of the exam.  For more information, talk to your provider, call our office at (607) 770-7074, and/or click here for more information.  
Urodynamic Testing...
